About That was...interesting

We had another shooting in town, on Tuesday. Some dude was mad at another dude, who happened to work at the local Wallyworld, so he decided to murder him, and shoot himself. Only....he survived. And the Wallyworld is less than 2 miles from MY HOUSE. :shudder: (No, we don't shop there often, on principle. I didn't WANT a Thrallmart here, but everyone else did. Like the lady they interviewed on TV who said, in part: "I love this WalMart and can't wait for it to reopen." A FEW HOURS AFTER THE MURDER I can't even.......:sigh:)

Anyway. I've been cleaning and purging like a madwoman. Only today my house is wrecked. Why? Because the Lord moves in mysterious ways, that's why.

See, I've been on the lookout for a display cabinet to go beside the entertainment center in the family room. We need it to store our Disney Infinity and Lego Dimensions characters. Hadn't found anything cheap/free (Free is good!), so I was still looking...until Monday.

Monday I found a listing for half of an entertainment center. Both side/display units, and the shelf that goes on top, over the TV. Now, I only needed 1 unit...but I started thinking.....and Tuesday I mentioned it to SG. He looked at the listing, sighed, and said "Sure. But what are you going to do with the other part?" I...didn't know. Until after dinner, when Himself came up and said "Mom, I know I need to clean my room, but I can't until I get some shelves or something to put my Lego ships on. Is there any way we can find me some sort of shelves?"

BINGO. See, in the Game/Music room we have a TV, on a stand. With 2 largish bookshelves on the sides, to look like an entertainment center. I had already measured; 1 shelf would fit beside the center in the family room...and now I knew where the other shelf belonged.

So. Today my spotless kitchen and dining room got trashed. We had to unload both bookshelves (the kitchen table got the donate pile, the dining room has the keep pile), then shift everything around. The family room now has a nice space for our game characters to stay, plus all of our current and soon-to-be-used homeschool books are in the room we actually school in. Himself has a full shelving unit of Lego Star Wars vehicles (and really could use 2 more...:sigh:) My game/music room is almost spotless (it WILL be spotless once we pick up the new furniture on Saturday and get them in there.)

I....do not know what I'm going to do with the to-keep books. I....like books. I was able to get rid of about 150 books today, and I have some more that need to be rehomed, but it's hard for me to let books go. All that knowledge! :sigh: Ah, well....I'm thinking on that. I've already been to the shelter and gotten rid of the to donate books (otherwise I'd have found a way to keep them.) so at least THOSE are taken care of.

The kitchen is almost back to rights, but the dining room table is kinda covered. I'll figure something out......eventually.

I've done 4 loads of laundry (Himself's, ours, the slipcover and curtains in the game/music room, and now the curtains from the family room and our coats.) I think I need to sit a bit before trying to excavate the table.

So, how's your day going?
