me: portrait

Today was going SO well, too....

Milking went quickly and painlessly; all the goats were where they belonged, the does were eager to give up their milk in exchange for pellets, and the children were cooperative.

School got done quickly, with NO problems. Granted, we are having major problems retaining simple Algebra rules, but I ordered a book from Amazon to hopefully help with that ("Right-brained Children in a Left-Brained World"). :fingers crossed:

Bills were paid, and there was enough money left over for groceries. :huzzah:

Went grocery shopping, got a TON of stuff for less than I had figured - and I tossed in a 16 lb bag of Jasmine rice (they don't normally carry that......and I prefer Jasmine rice to White rice. It fit in the freezer nicely.)

Came home, and sent the kids out to clean the barn, while I made an eye appointment and got down to work-work. Ran out to the barn with an apple for Dusty, then had to help Herself lock the does out.....

Oh. Lord. Snakes don't bother me so much, because I can SEE them. Spiders - :shudder: Scorpions - scare the bejeebers out of me, because I think they're lizards until they raise their tails.

Note: Ace Hardware's Wasp and Hornet spray will stun the little bugger long enough for you to grab the shovel and beat the ever-living shit out of it.

I immediately put both kids in boots and told them to be careful. (What? The barn has to get clean, and I HAVE to get work done. Yeah, so I'm slacking right now - but I'm about to jump right back, so :meh:) I also told them that *if* one of them got stung, that one walk as calmly as they can to the Jeep while the other one runs to get me, and we'll go to the hospital. (I've told them the same thing about the black widows we have down here - only those you can stomp. They squish really nicely. :shudder:)

This is the first one I've seen here in about 6 years. :shudder:

Next time the exterminator comes out, he WILL treat the house AND the barn. I don't care how much I have to pay - he WILL do it.

:deep breath:

At least my almost-monthly shopping is done. Himself now has pants that fit (sweats, but we don't go anywhere, any way, so sweats are fine.) and both kids have new socks (yes, I knit....but I can't knit fast enough to keep up with their growth spurts. Even with the sock machine!)

Back to work.......:shudder:
