About December 16th, 2012

Non-stop lately! 04:03 pm
It's just been non-stop movement lately! The kids went to Granny's house yesterday, and we spent a few hours in Ft. Worth....we left yesterday AM at 9....and didn't get home until 5:30. :sigh:

Today we went and bought hay, then target shot, then hit Half-Price books (my children got me gift cards for my birthday - they know me well!) I only spent $18 of my money, so I'm counting it as a win.

The big score was a cookbook from a Synagogue in Houston - not only does it have the "normal" categories, but it has a HUGE one on Passover foods. :happy dance: Should we be here, I'm ready.

Tomorrow is full, as is Tuesday. Wednesday.....I am spending in my jammies. Because I can. :nods:

My heart goes out to the families in Connecticut - and I will only say 1 thing. I've seen on a LOT of forums the feeling that the 2nd Amendment doesn't cover modern weapons, because "the founders didn't know about them. It only covers *muskets*." (Yes, I'm serious.) My feelings? If you're going to go THAT route, then buckle up - because you have to apply the SAME thinking to the ENTIRE Bill of Rights...and guess what? Your beloved 1st Amendment - you know, the FREE SPEECH one? - would NOT include things that the founders didn't know of. You know, things like Television, Telephones, Radio, and - of course! - the INTERNET. So, if you're going to try and claim modern weapons aren't included in the 2nd Amendment, then be ready to give up your free speech on the 'net.

:sigh: One thing that would help prevent massacres like this from happening? Toss out the "gun-free" zones - which include SCHOOLS. Let some of the teachers carry...and I can guarantee bad guys would avoid schools. How can I say that? Israel did that after a horrible massacre in....the late '70s or early '80s. They trained the teachers and some parent volunteers in firearms handling/safety, and keep up the training. Result? NO incidents in the time period since. (The Oregon mall? The Colorado theater? Both were posted GUN-FREE. Just sayin'.)

Anyway. Y'all have a good week, OK? I'll check in...maybe Wednesday. The next 2 days are going to be hard ones.
