So. Today was not only my monthly grocery-run (stop and think about this a minute....I only hit the grocery store 1x/month. Now think about today....) it was also get ready for Thanksgivukkah....and the stores were PACKED.
Granted. We left the house at 6:30 AM to hit Wally-world (the goats were not happy with us, but I predicted the crowds.) The crowds - when we arrived - weren't bad. When we left (at 8:30) the store was already packed. :sigh:
It took 2 grocery carts. BUT! Thanks to the kids and their bargain-hunting fu, we came in at only $77 OVER my max budget!!!! (Normally we're at $150 Under, but I budget high so that we have "free" money when we're done.) Not too bad, considering that not only did I do my usual shopping, I had to add turkey-day and it's fix in's AND Hanukkah and all the fried stuff. And oil. Oi, the oil!
Then we hit the meat locker, ran home to unload, then headed back out to hit the craft stores. :whew: Then home, to pack up some boxes, and out again to the Post Office (THANK YOU!!! Yes, YOU!!!) and - finally! - home to start the prep.
We're headed out to dinner, then I get to chop up the bird (part is going in the crock pot, for those who don't really relish deep-fried turkey) and make the fudge and peanut-butter pie. Tomorrow is the big day.....I have the bread ready for the stuffing, and everything else laid out (mashed 'taters, green bean casserole, dinner rolls, cheddar cheese biscuits, pecan pie, apple pie, salad and...I know I forgot something, but....oh, yeah - sugar cookies.)
So. Tonight is the first night of Hanukkah - Happy Hanukkah! Let your light shine tonight, and for the next 7!
