not a lot going on (with me, anyway..) J.'s "partner" (i'd like to hog-tie him) has gone berserk, and he's got to move his tools again. :sigh: this means, of course, that he hasn't been paid in...3 weeks now? 4? bleck. i'm not much help - all i want to do is kick me some stupid man-ass, but i won't since i'm currently among the walking wounded. if J. would just take the zoey-monster, i think things might work out....:eg:

got to card the rest of the doghair today - gotta get it all spun by irish fest. that should be fun!

oh - weekend update! i can do that!

saturday, j. and herself went to the shop where they were locked out. himself and i went to the local heritage museum to look at their wheel - a walking wheel. i estimate it dates from about 1850 or so. needs work - the rim is split in parts, the hub needs a spacer, and the maidens need bearings for the spindle. good news is that the spindle is present, and in good shape. (note to self: contact alden. he can advise me) we were there a good 3 hours, talking with the docent. i had brought my charka, which was smart, as i could show him what his wheel needed. we'll be back next saturday for j. to look at it and see if he can do anything for it.

sunday - the chili cookoff and dessert auction. my entry was rated "most classic". a step down from the judge's choice, but not bad. *next* year, i'll do better. heheheheheh scored the black forest trifle again - only this year i brought it home. *sigh* gotta find someone to eat it now - i don't need the calories! (even if it is oh, so good!) also scored a pecan pie, 2 doz choc. chip cookies, some almond toffee, and a huge chocolate cake. the cost? *whispers* $210. the money is tax deductible, and goes to the youth fund, so it's ok - we basically donated enough to send herself to camp again. (that's the purpose of the auction - it's the only fundraiser our youth group does all year. people bid high for stuff to help support them. it's really cool!) fortunatley, they'll hold my check until month end. *whew*! if i calculated it correctly, they raised over $2,000 yesterday. we'll know next week.

today is lazy day. carding dog hair - it won't hurt my wrist, which, yeah - it's broke. again. it's all swollen now, and every-so-slightly bruised where i think the break is. *sigh* i can't take calcium, so i need to make sure i'm more careful. my sweater is definately out of the fair - i can't get it finished. oh, well....i'll figure something out.
