Pretty girl!

Moonie is NOT a natural mother, although she's turning out to be a decent one. I just...I can't keep a mare that I have to constantly watch - she's getting better about the nursing thing, but I had to tie her up for over an hour yesterday morning, then I had to hold her for almost a half hour yesterday evening, just to make sure Lady Spindlelegs got some food. :sigh:

Add to that, Moonie isn't as in-your-face as my other Arabs....it takes a good 30 minutes to even *catch* her, and she's pissed the whole time. She's for sale as of Now, but she can't leave until the foal is weaned (6 months)...I can't take the hassle.

Magic, on the other hand...is an attention whore. If I go out to feed, she's *right* there, demanding (gently!) attention. I pulled a brush out yesterday, and you'd'a thought I was brining Nirvana.

Both babies got brushed, as well - and Flutterbutt got to wear a halter. She was a bit indignant at first, but decided the brushing was worth the ugly accessory. :heh: Spindlelegs didn't wear a halter, but got held and brushed.

Life is *very* interesting around here!

Sorry Moonie, time to move on. I completely agree with you.

Of course, my only experience of Arabians was in Bahrain. However, they were all voice trained (and spoke Arabic) and would come when you called. If they thought you had a treat for them, they'd come even when they weren't called!

My friend Talal would ride Matrouk, a very fine stallion, bareback without a bridle. He'd hang on to a handful of mane at speed, just in case, but otherwise it was all knees and voice. Of course, Talal was probably born on horseback and could certainly ride about as soon as he could walk...

All my others are like the ones you played with. Dusty (my stud-muffin) is 3rd level, I can (and have) ridden him sans tack, even in breeding season, with no problems. Dusty, though - you have to think *for* him. He's run into *so* many walls because I didn't tell him to turn......(he's a doofus!)

Magic ('Flutterbutt's' mom) will practically run over you if she thinks you have a treat. Yesterday, I didn't - but I had a brush, which is even *better* She was constantly in my face - "you wanna pet my baby? Fine. Brush me First!"

I made the mistake of buying Moonie from DW Arabians in CO (Oogie.....need I say more?) She's got the bloodlines, she's got the looks...but not the personality. I think she'd do fine as an only horse - with no horses to bond with, she'd *have* to bond with the funny 2-legs.

Or so I hope....
