I don't know how many of you are familiar with CSA's...but an online friend is starting one with her (AWESOME!!) sheep: Here's her website, and here's her etsy shop. Her wool is *to die for* (I've had a sample..it wasn't huge, but...wow. And my friends who have bought whole fleeces from her stand in line at shearing time!). She's offering either ready-to-spin roving, or mill-spun yarn. I'm going to try and fit this in my budget - I like CSA's, and I like buying from small producers.
Please go, look, and, if you can - BUY. Seriously - the way the economy is going, small producers *will* be forced out, and pretty soon all that'll be left is Thrall-mart type stuff (at NM prices, I must add.....) We NEED our small farmers! (Also, if you have any fruit and veggie stands in your area, or a Farmer's Market, why don't you buy *there* instead of the grocery store? You might pay a bit more, but you'll be getting quality stuff, and keeping small farmers alive. Yes, I DO put my money where my mouth is - we don't have many stands in my area, so I will have a garden this year, but if I find a stand with something I don't grow, I'll be buying it *there* instead of Brookshire's or Wally-world.)
Back to work, now.....
