OK - mom made it thru the surgery just fine. It took a little over 2 hours; the doc checked out her liver and other organs and didn't see anything, so it looks like the cancer was contained. He sent the tumor and lymph nodes (I think) off to the lab, and should get results in 3 or 4 days. He feels comfortable that she WILL have chemo, but it depends on the labs.
When we left her (around 2), she was groggy and a little loopy, but doing OK. They have her on a morphine drip for the pain. We'll take the kids up there tomorrow to see her. If all goes well, she'll be coming home before this weekend.
In other news:
Herself has discovered the joys of origami jewelry. I have a lovely pair of crane earrings; she is planning me a pair of roses, hummingbirds, and...I really don't know. I do know that I much prefer the jewelry to "regular" origami - a)they're smaller and b) NOT on the floor/desk/table.
First day of school went well; both kids seem OK. Herself survived the first day of Junior High, with only a small meltdown this AM (she couldn't remember how to open her locker, or where her classes were). Himself is big man on campus this year, since he's a FOURTH grader. :whew: I wanna know where my babies went!
Housecleaning continues apace. Looks much nicer...we'll see how long it lasts.
