Two things you do affect how long your milk is good for.
How fast you get it cold.
And how clean it is.
If the girl ate wild onions it doesn't matter how fast you chill it or how clean you keep it, the milk will be weird.
Also if she is sick and the somatic cell count is high, it won't be good.
Just fill a small jar with milk -(you don't want the jar mostly full of air - because that will make the milk lose freshness more quickly)and leave it in the fridge for a few days and compare it with fresh milk from that morning. See if you can tell the difference. Raw milk doesn't spoil, it sours, and plenty of people drink sour milk.
We usually drink milk that is less than three days old for the simple fact that we get it fresh every day - so why drink the old stuff when a bunch of new stuff is on its way?
I feed older stuff to the chickens so it still isn't wasted - and we don't throw it out Because it is old, we throw it out because there is no more room for new milk in the fridge!!
