only 2 more days to go!

This morning was frantic - got up, snarfed a quick bowl of cereal, grabbed Himself and tried to jolly Herself up, gave up, and we went out to milk. Herself dragged out to feed horses (thankfully - that helps, a lot!) while we bottled babies and milked.

Got to cuddle a baby cashmere, then ran inside to process the milk, load the dishwasher, and get supper prepped. Tonight is Shauvot, and it's traditional to serve dairy. We're having an egg and cheese casserole-thingy (spray a baking dish. Put in 4 slices of bread - or 6, whatever fits. Cut off crusts, unless it's homemade bread and you're rushed for time. Top with about 2 cups shredded cheese. In a medium bowl, whisk together 7 eggs, 2.5 cups of milk, Italian seasoning, garlic (I added that!), and pepper. Dump this over the bread and cheese, cover with wax paper and foil, and refrigerate overnight (or all day). Bake in a...I think....350* oven for...an hour? I need to check.) Easy, but when you're rushed for time it's a bit fussy. And it only used 2.5 cups of milk....I gotta find more recipes! (And Sweet Geek needs to get off his McDuff duff and make some cheese - we have about 4 gallons in the fridge right now. With another 3/4 gallon coming tonight..and tomorrow AM, and PM, and and and...)

I have photos for a post, but don't have time to upload them right now. I'll try to do that later.....:sigh:

Didn't have time to check the shaving soap.....will do that tonight. Hope it's not a bad batch.....

Puddings? I often make rice pudding to use up any milk I have left on my pickup day. I use brown rice and don't make it too sweet so it serves as a quick breakfast too.
