Let's see.....Finn is still haltered! So, yeah...need to call the vet in the next day or so. :snip: Chickens are OK.....goats are....well, Annie and Rosa are producing like normal; Mocha is down. Way down. Need to check on that.
The pool pump is dead. SO is the plug. When we left Monday AM, the pump was doing it's thing....by the time we got home it was deader'n dead. :sigh: The pool people are being jerks - I don't like the new company. The pump is barely a year old, so it should NOT have gone out yet...the plug, OK, I can see that, but NOT the pump. Sweet Geek is handling that. I hope - I want to SWIM, dammit!
Got some oxides in for soaping - I bought the sample set from Brambleberry. Ordered my oils yesterday - should be able to pick them up today (if I ordered online, I got a discount. Works for me!) I also ordered some tallow - I want to try using animal fats, but can't do lard - it's not kosher. I'm thinking laundry soap, if nothing else.
Think that's it....

my friend is making me some soap - she asked me if it was okay if it had lard in it, because it works best in her recipe. Since I am not eating it,and I think she is very sweet to make me some, I said okay - bacause I didn't want to hurt her feelings - I figure there are pig skin gloves on my property, I pet my cat, the food I feed my dog has pig meat in it - I would like to hear how the tallow soap comes out - when I figure out soap for my self it might be nice!
It's a slippery slope (no pun intended!) - some Rabbi's say that it's OK because the saponification process changes the chemical composition of the lard to something else; others say no. I'd rather not mess with it....
A good sub for lard (besides tallow) is Palm Kernel Oil. I tried some in 1 batch - it hit trace so fast it wasn't funny! The bars came out super hard - nice soap, but whoa!
I do have your yarn spun...just need to ply it. :sigh: I haven't forgotten you!
