I don't know how you do it. It gets to be 92 here, and I melt. ((And it's been 92 A LOT this summer!)) It canNOT be healthy to live in that heat like that. Come EMP, you guys will die of heat exposure, for sure. It's not kewl... literally.
Obama made a trip to little Holland, Michigan last week for the opening of a little plant that will employ 300 people. Before that, he went to Racine, WI... which is even smaller, and there was no plant opening involved. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH HIM!?!?

I don't know what's going on with our "fearless leader"....it's weird.
As for the heat - we normally get Hot. Texas is a little slice o'Hell come August....but this year? It's the hottest on record so far. 108* Sunday, 107* Monday...103* last night....CRAZY. I am NOT looking forward to August - it's usually in the 100s - this year? I'm betting 115*+. :shudder:
How we do it? A/C is a must. The goats have a fan - so do the chickens, but thiers kinda sucks, and needs to be replaced. (It's an attic fan). We're going to wire the barn and put a window unit in (machine FIRST, but...). We have a pool - I don't know how people survive without one (even the pop-up pools work!). Lots and Lots of iced tea/ice water/lemonade. (We push fluids).
This is where Yah planted me.....I've asked about moving, but so far the answer's no. I like the mild winters - August is usually the worst. (Not this year, though...) The goats are down - they're not drinking a lot. :sigh: Still...it could be worse. Not looking forward to it.....the lack of A/C in the event of an EMP is NOT something I'm looking forward to. I have fans (hand-powered ) and I have the "cooling" bandanas (just add water!)..but it'll suck.

Have you tried putting a chunk of ice in their water? Milk production drops when they are dehydrated and warm water isn't that tasty.
I am in the desert too, and it is only really hot for a few weeks. We do chores at night and nap in the afternoon.
And we eat popsicles. Put our feet in cool water. Sit in the shade.
Hadn't thought about ice cubes - thanks! I'll do that tonight!
