Good idea to milk the momma - even now - to keep her udder balanced - the babies (especially boys!) have a tendency to pick a side and drink it to nothing and then leave the other side alone until it dries up from lack of demand. Better to keep it evened up from the start.
We bred one of our nigerians to the old angora - since her mate is really too creaky to get the job done. How do you know if it is cashmere?
Cashmere has to do with the micron count of the fiber. We won't know until his "real" coat comes in, but right now it looks *identical* to the doelings from last year (except for color) - curly-curls, super-soft....and his mom has some fantastic cashmere.
Thanks for the info - we'll start milking her this weekend, unless she's already lopsided. She's got..a funky udder anyway, so it'll be "fun". :giggle:
