so I shall provide photos of the bed quilt in progress.
I spent all day yesterday working on this - it was the 8th day of Sukkot, on which no *work* is to be done, so I figured quilting was a good thing to do.
I'm finished with the 2 large blocks - well, I need to cut off the "dog ears" where the diagonals meet, but the blocks are, themselves, done. Here's a photo of both of them, with an unattached sashing strip between them (so you can get an idea of the pattern):
I like how they turned out...I'm not totally sold on the green-on-green portion, but it works. I like green, so it's good - I just sorta wish it had a bit more contrast. Still - it looks good, and will look better when the whole top's assembled.
I'm not done with the small border-blocks yet. I still need to put the green corners on (same fabric that's used on the larger blocks), but here's the basic block:
The paisley pattern looks odd right now, but when you put the burgundy plaid sashing strip next to it, it ties in perfectly. Our bedroom is sage green, with burgundy/gold/navy accents. I think this will fit right in and look nice, once it's finished. (If not, paint's cheap.)
I don't think I'll have any spare blocks - I calculated the size, and I need to make the top 2 blocks wider, and 2 blocks longer...which = 24 blocks. Ah, well - I've just about decided that I want solid pillowcases, not trimmed ones, so I'll go back and buy some more fabric for those. Probably either the green from the corners, or the blue.....I don't really LOVE the green-and-blue print, and the paisley is too....well, "girly" for SG. Maybe the plaid from the sashing strips.......we'll see what I can find.
I'm not in a rush to get this finished - I need to make Cynthia a wall-hanging (owls. I've had the pattern for YEARS, but haven't gotten to it yet. This year...maybe.), I need to make some goat-coats, and I need to work on the Torah wall-hanging. It'll get done......eventually. It's a BIG project, and needs to be done properly.
So - what've y'all been up to, creativity-wise? Give me some inspiration!
