Yesterday was an interesting day. On Friday we received our dumpster ($500! :ack!!:) and started filling it on Saturday. Herself and I took out 3 kitchen trash bags and 5 55-gallon drum sized bags from the Studio; it's better, but still not where I want it. (I can't do much more until I can pull things out of the space so I have room to move. Have I mentioned it's RAINING again?) SG's been tiding up the property, and Himself is working on his room. Now that the stage is set:
I was on the tractor yesterday, hauling the trash to the dumpster, when SG told me to cut it off. I did; we both heard a very loud MEOW-ing. After a few minutes of searching, we found a baby kitten in the woodpile. I took him to our next door neighbor - she's feeding ALL the neighborhood cats (and a possum!) and thinks she knows who the mother is.
After we finished up that area, we got cleaned up and ran to Home Depot - Himself had managed to kill the light fixture in his room. On the way home, we stopped at Starbucks.....on the way out I saw something *jump* over on the side of the road. It was a baby kitten, and she was in danger of being squashed by traffic. :panic:
Fortunately, the car that made her jump saw her and stopped. The 2 young 20-somethings helped us catch her (at one point she was on top of the engine. The driver cut the power - fortunately! - and she managed to escape with just a burnt paw.) - one of them finally managed to nab her in the rear wheel well of his car. We took her home, and I called Mom. (What? I can't have cats, because our dogs think they are play toys. I didn't want to hand her over to our neighbor; I had visions of saving her from traffic only to have her wander over into our yard. :shudder:)
Mom picked her up, and as of last night little Lulu was well on her way to being spoiled rotten. She was starving, so I think she's been on her own for a while - poor baby! - but we'll soon have that put to rights. She scarfed down a piece of KFC chicken the size of her head (twice!) while we had her, so....
The dress is done, except for the hem. I have cut out a new chair cushion for my sewing chair and have a template made for cushions for the dining room chairs. I need to find the right fabric for the kitchen, then I'll whip up some cushions there.....why yes, I AM busy. These are quick and easy projects, and needed.....I have an apron and a sleeveless blouse planned, and jeans.
I have some work to do, so laters! Have a great Memorial Day!
