I got up early yesterday, did a quick clean (it was Herself's birthday party)....but I had the overwhelming urge to Go. To. Walmart. I put it off, until Himself had gotten up and eaten; he agreed to go with me. (It was about 9 AM).
Well. The manager was there, and about 1/3 of the fabric was pulled. I, um....fell down. Hard. I bought about 70 yards......what? ALL the Star Wars fabric was clearanced ($1/yard, folks!) as was the My Little Pony fleece that Herself wanted for PJs. It took about an hour....when I got home I texted Mom.
After we cut Herself's cake, I asked her if it was OK if Mom and I went back up there...she said Of Course - $1/yard fabric! So......this time I only got 30 yards (What?)
To be honest: I'm not materialistic (see what I did there?) - I have plans for 90% of this fabric. Of that 90%, I already have the pattern picked out. Out of the 10%...16 yards are knits (2 bolts.) 1 bolt is for making "thunder shirts" for the dogs ($40 at PetSmart.....$1/yard here!) and the other is for t-shirts. I figure I'll get used to knits this way - it's no big deal if I screw up! (Most of the fabric, I was asking myself what I'd do with it before I added it to my pile. Except the Star Wars fabric - I asked Himself about it, and he said "Mom, it's STAR WARS. You should get it - you'll figure out what to do with it later." At the cutting table, we decided he needed pillowcases.)
I got fleece for PJs, Star Wars flannels for PJs, some cotton for tops, and a bolt of Minion fabric for tops/PJ tops, and.....I dunno. I got some Minion fleece for me, hence the fabric - and I wanted 5 yards; 8 wasn't much of a stretch.
I've washed a bunch of it, and will be turning it into shirts soon. I traced off a tank pattern for Herself; I'll make the first one then turn her loose. She needs to start sewing her own stuff.
I'm very thankful for this blessing - it's not often I scored $1/yard fabric! Especially not current-style fabric! It's also not often that I happen to have the funds to take advantage of such a sale - The Lord was certainly looking out for me!
Tomorrow we go to Granny's - I hope to get some sewing in today. Then, next week - it's all sewing, all the time. I need to convert some of this to wearables!
