*sigh* Mom angst...

So, today is the first day of school...for *both* kidlets. Himself is now in Kindergarten. *sob*sniffle*

They both bounced out of bed this AM raring to go. Snarfed down breakfast - with no arguements, praise be! - then ran around finding shoes, brushing teeth, etc. I had laid out the uniforms last night, so clothing wasn't an issue..but shoes were. For Himself, anyway. He spent *20* minutes picking out the perfect pair of shoes "so I'm handsome, Mommy!" *sniffle*

Got to the daycare, and he was bouncing off the walls. "When's the bus leave? I gotta go to *school*! Is it time yet? When do we go????" Herself kept telling him what was gonna happen: "First, we'll go to the Intermediate school, then the Primary school, then *MY* school - when I get off, you'll know you're next. They'll pick you up first in the afternoon, then me - so I'll ride with you, OK?" *sniffle* She was so grown up!

I headed over to the Kindergarten to meet the bus - I figure, since he has to ride the bus every day, I might as well start him off the way he's to continue. The bus riders go to the cafeteria, where the teacher will pick them up and escort them to the room. His bus was late - it was a total MADHOUSE out there, with (stupid) parents parking in places clearly marked NO PARKING and BUS LANE, KEEP CLEAR and TEACHERS ONLY. (Did I mention they were *stupid*?) It finally arrived (the monitor told me that bus students aren't counted late, so that's good!) and....*sniff* he was the only one on the bus.

He was so solemn as he got off...then he saw me and *flew* inside the doors. He grabbed my hand and held on so tightly, and we walked down the halls to his room. I could tell he was a bit nervous, but he wouldn't admit it...he just got really quiet as we came up to the door.

I told the teacher the bus was late, and she was cool. She's been there *forever*, and she seems really nice.....she welcomed him in, showed him his desk and way cool awesome nametag, then glanced at me as I nodded goodbye and split. *sniffle*

I had to hit the nurse's office to drop off his nebby and medications...and I couldn't *believe* the number of idiotic parents Trying to Register their Child....on the first f*'ng day of school. When they've had all summer...and the big registration "round up" in April (in all the papers and on the bulletian board of the *only* grocery store in town. Idiotic.....

And let's don't forget the stupid moron that parked their brand-spanking new Exedition in the EXIT lane, right at the street, so no one could get out. I hope the car gets hit, I really do.....

Herself was met by Grandma in the gym at the Elementary school. (Our district is strange, the early Childhood center has Pre-K and K, the Primary school is 1st and 2nd grades, the Elementary is 3rd and 4th grades, the Intermediate is 5th and 6th, Junior High is 7th and 8th, and the High School is 9th - 12th.) It is reported that she was thrilled to see Grandma, and they bounced off to class together.

Herself has to get on the bus by herself, as Grandma will be at the Kindergarten making sure Himself gets sorted out. *sniffle* Then G'ma will go pick them up from the daycare, and bring them home for cookies (baked last night, and hidden in the microwave for just such an event). I was supposed to have the day off, but boss-man's condition kinda blew that off. *sigh* It's least I got to see them off this AM.

So, big day today......I'm not quite ready to think that my baby is now in school. *sniffle*

Think I'll go bury my head a bit here at work.
